La nube es un término o palabra en español que se le dio al Cloud Computing (Nube Computacional), también porque a la gran red de redes (internet) se le representa con una nube para diferenciarla de las redes locales o LAN/WAN. La definición técnica sería que es un conjunto de ejecución de aplicaciones y servicios para guardar o procesar datos en internet (la nube).
Depende del sistema y las instancias aplicadas en el centro de datos, depende de los que administran toda tu información compartida (facebook, flickr, twitter, hi5), porque ellos no manejan un centro de datos.
Las ventajas que brinda son indiscutibles, estos servicios que facilitan el acceso a la información no están fuera de riesgos y conviene adoptar precauciones (guarda tus correos cada cierto tiempo de Gmail, Hotmail, yahoo mail en un disco o memoria), sobre todo, en el ámbito de la privacidad.
Si ves la siguiente imagen la caída de gran parte del servicio de Gmail en varios países, fue evidente. Por que habían empresas, instituciones de gobierno, personas y grupos que utilizaban los servicios de Gmail y calendario, no pudieron realizar sus actividades, no sabían a donde irían, a que hora la reunión, no podían hacer nada.
En 14 de mayo,2009 un poco mas del 10%(a nivel mundial) de usuarios de Gmail no tenía el servicio. Por la caída de un centro de datos en asiático, por que no soporto toda la carga y peticiones de usuarios de Gmail, que fueron redireccionados hacia allí.
El día viernes 5 de mayo,2009 teníamos programado un mantenimiento de servidores en twitter durante 1hora a partir de las 8pm(GMT-5 hora Bogota, Quito, Lima, Santiago y RioBranco), pero duro mas de 1hora y el servicio no estuvo restablecido completamente hasta eso de las 11pm. Esto es debido a que muchos usuarios no se percataron que había mantenimiento de servidores y que intentaban ingresar, ocasionando saturación al servicio por peticiones simultáneas, que no se resuelven y quedan en col.
Esto hace que la cola se agrande porque el usuario piensa que al hacer un refresh(actualizar) o presionar enter logrará ingresar mas rápido. Esto no sucede porque lo que generas es ponerte al último en la cola. Y ahí se hace mas cola, mas cola y mas cola.
La recomendación en este caso es esperar no hacer tantas peticiones porque saturas el servicio.
¿Pero cómo podemos educar a las personas sobre este último tema de no saturar el servicio gratuito, cuando está caído?
Los usuarios no comprendemos que el servicio que nos dan Gmail, Twitter, Facebook, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc. Es gratuito y por tal motivo no se puede pedir más de lo que nos ofrecen, por ser gratuito.
La única manera es concienciar a los usuarios a tener buenas prácticas por utilizar servicios gratuitos.
Es difícil reclamar por un servicio gratuito, ya que ellos se financian por otros medios como publicidad.
Para los que si tenemos servicios pagados en un centro de datos, con servidores dedicados exclusivamente a darnos el servicio de correo, ahí si tenemos el derecho de reclamar por un servicio según contrato.
Ahora si aparece una super empresa que se le ocurre comprar Gmail, y dice que toda la información es suya, que le podemos reclamar (tus fotos, correos, etc) si el servicio era gratis, y el centro de datos es ahora suyo. Fuente Dotpod.
La legalidad se discute muy a menudo sobre estas nuevas formas de transmisión de datos y servicios, por que están flotando en la Nube, y no hay un ente específico que se encargue de regular este tema.
